Equipment for temperature-programmed reduction (TPR)

Picture of equipment for temperature-programmed reduction

Temperature-programmed reduction (TPR) is a method belonging to thermal analysis techniques. This type of measurements is one of basic methods used in characterization of catalysts. that makes possible to study interaction of gas phase reagents with a catalyst surface, nature of a component being reduced, its quantity, state of oxidation and temperature of reduction beginning.

The TPR measurement setup consists of:

- reduction mixture dosing system (H2, Ar),

- an oven with a temperature controller and a quartz reactor with a sample located inside,

- a system for freezing steam (-40 ± 3 °C) formed during the reduction process,

- a gas chromatograph (SRI 8610C) equipped with a thermal conductivity detector (TCD) to monitor consumption of hydrogen from the reducing mixture.
