Powder X-ray diffractometers (XRD)

Picture of powder X-ray diffractometer

XRD diffractometer (D2 Phaser, Bruker) is a desktop, small size powder diffractometer working in T/T geometry. The device is equipped with a Cu-lamp, nickel filter eliminating Kß radiation and 1D LYNXEYE one-dimensional strip detector enabling fast data collection. Recording XRD patterns can be performed in a scanning range from -3 to 160 °2 theta angle with a minimum measuring step of 0.005 °2 theta angle. Additional equipment includes: a set of slits limiting a radiation beam width (0.1 mm, 0.2 mm, 0.6 mm and 1.0 mm), detector slits limiting a reflected beam width (3 mm and 8 mm), a screen limiting a radiation beam enabling measurements in a low angle range, 3 collimators on a primary beam side (1.5 °, 2.5 ° and 4.0 °) and 1 collimator on a secondary beam side (2.5 °). Measurements are made in a horizontal rotational sample system at a speed of 1 to 80 °/min. The set of available holders allows testing both standard and small amounts of powder samples without a background effect.
