EDXRF spectrometer - ARL QUANT'X from Thermo Scientific

Picture of XRF spectrometer

EDXRF spectrometer (ARL QUANT'X, Thermo Scientific) with energy dispersion is dedicated for analysis of elemental composition of various materials in a non-destructive way. The apparatus is equipped with a high-resolution Si(Li) detector with Peltier cooling and an automatic 10-position sample changer with holders enabling measurements of liquids and powder materials. The spectrometer allows performing experiments in vacuum or inert gas flow (Ar, He, N2) which is essential in a case of light elements in volatile and easily oxidable samples. By adjusting width of X-ray beam (from 2 to 15 mm), the device gives opportunity to analyse samples with small size. WinTrace and Uniquant software enable analysing elemental composition in the following modes: qualitative (non-standard), semi-quantitative (semi-non-standard) and quantitative analysis with any number of standards.
